About this section

Arabic in the World

Where Arabic is studied and taught beyond the Arab world, and who does that work there.

Arabic departments at universities, institutes, academic chairs, associations, peer-reviewed journals and schools — gathered country by country, together with their professors, projects and news. Its content is built by the people it describes: researchers add what they know about their own country, and each country page is overseen by a coordinator from that country where there is one.

I invite non-Arab students, researchers and teachers of Arabic to introduce their countries’ efforts in teaching Arabic — whether university departments, schools or teachers, research and books, activities, or academic news.

And when a university department or centre excels in teaching Arabic, it can be added to the following list of programmes teaching Arabic to non-native speakers.
