This page describes what the site collects from you, why it collects it, how long it keeps it, whom it shares it with, and how you can ask for it to be deleted.
In short
Nothing is collected from a visitor who only reads. Data is stored only when you open an account or use a service:
| When | What is stored |
|---|---|
| You open an account | Your name and email address, and your photo if you upload one. Your password is stored encrypted and cannot be read — we ourselves do not know it. |
| You submit a paper for peer review | The paper's file, its title and abstract, and your occupation, institution and academic degree. The file is stored in a location that cannot be opened from the web, and it is reachable only by you, the manager of the scholarly outlet (the journal or book), and the reviewer assigned to your paper. |
| A certificate is issued to you | Your name as you want it on the certificate, your email if one is given, and the verification code. The verification page shows your name, who issued the certificate and when to anyone who holds the code. |
| You write to us or request a service | Your name, your email, the text of your message, and any files you attach. |
| You browse the site | A single cookie for your session, which keeps you signed in and protects forms against forgery. It carries no advertising, and it is removed when you sign out. No tracking. |
We do not use it for anything else. The site's group mailings — if any are sent — concern the site and its services, and each one carries a way to leave the list.
We do not sell it, rent it out, or give it to any advertiser or broker. It leaves the site in three cases only:
For as long as your account exists. If your account is deleted, its data is deleted — except what must remain: a certificate issued in your name remains verifiable, because whoever you show it to needs to be able to confirm it, and keeping it is a right of yours, not a burden on you. The same applies to financial records that the law requires us to keep.
These are requested from the Contact us page, and we reply within a reasonable time.
The site runs over an encrypted connection; passwords are stored in a form that can be neither read nor recovered; and research files are kept in a location that cannot be opened from the web except by those entitled to them. No system is impossible to breach, so if anything happens that affects your data, we will inform you and inform the competent authority.
The site is intended for researchers and for those interested in the Arabic language, and it does not seek to collect data about anyone under the age of fifteen. Anyone who learns of such data should tell us so that we can delete it.
It may be amended when the site's services change, and the date of the last amendment is written at the bottom. We will notify you by email of anything that materially affects your rights.
