Biography

Born in Tabriz in 421/1030 and raised there, he travelled in pursuit of letters and settled in Baghdad. He is known for his commentaries on classic Arabic poems, including the ten Muʿallaqat, the Lamiyyat al-ʿArab and Kaʿb ibn Zuhayr's Banat Suʿad.
