Tests and Exercises

Research trainings

Work a student does over days or weeks — not a timed test.

The teacher sets the field, the site gives every student their own share, the student works at their own pace with the work saved as they go, then submits it, and the teacher reviews it in place and returns or accepts it. The class is the same class as for tests, and students enter with the same links.

How it works

  1. 1

    Create it in your class

Choose the template, check the brief, the deadline and how it is graded, then open it to students.

  2. 2

    Each student gets a share

By their number in the class: in the word study, a first letter and a second-letter range, so no two students share a root.

  3. 3

    They work, then submit

The work saves itself as they write, they see how much is done, and they submit before the deadline. You can extend it for one student.

  4. 4

    You review it in place

You write your note on the word itself, see what falls outside the share or is incomplete flagged for you, then return, accept or score it.

Templates

Available now

A semantic study of words

Five words from the student's share: their meanings in the dictionaries, each with the dictionaries that give it, and meanings the old dictionaries omit, with evidence and sources, in historical order.

Available now

A page of a daily newspaper

The teacher uploads an issue; each student takes a page and marks irregular derivatives, blends, loanwords and words whose meaning has shifted.

Coming

Comparing two sources

The teacher names two sources and the points of comparison — say the Doha and Sharjah historical dictionaries — and the student compares them in a two-column table.

Coming

A page of the Qur’an

A page of the Madinah Mushaf for each student, who marks the features of letters, assimilation and gemination on the letters themselves.
