Biography

An Albanian from Kosovo, he graduated in Oriental philology at Belgrade, specialised in Arabic at Cairo University (1975–1976), and taught for many years in the department of Oriental studies at the University of Prishtina. His Albanian translation of the Qur'an appeared in Prishtina in 1985, widely regarded as the first complete one in print. He also compiled a lexicon of Albanian hafizes.
