Biography

He taught Hebrew, Aramaic, Syriac and classical Arabic language and literature. In the journal Die Welt des Islams he wrote on Mahmud Taymur (1932), on al-Zahawi and his poetry with translated selections (1935), on Amir Shakib Arslan (1937) and on Ibrahim al-Muwaylihi (1954), and he made known a copy of Ibn Kaysan's commentary on the ten Muʿallaqat in letters exchanged with Ahmad Zaki Pasha.
