Academic Publishing and Peer Review

Try it as a journal — a worked example

This is how peer review works on the Voice of Arabic Network, shown on an invented journal: what the researcher sees, what the editorial board sees, what the reviewer sees, and what reaches the researcher afterwards.

A demonstration page: the journal, the papers and the names are invented for illustration, and none of its buttons sends anything.

1 · The journal page — as a researcher sees it

Researchers reach it from the list of journals or from a link you send. They read its rules and dates, then send an abstract and later the paper.

About

A peer-reviewed, twice-yearly journal of linguistic and literary studies and the teaching of Arabic. It publishes original research not published elsewhere.

Publication guidelines

The paper must be original, unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere. Up to 8,000 words, with an abstract in Arabic and in English. The author's name goes on the cover page only, because review is blind. One citation style throughout.

Dates and address

Abstract deadline
15 November 2026 · Jumada II 5, 1448 AH
Full paper deadline
25 December 2026 · Rajab 16, 1448 AH
Review decisions announced
29 January 2027 · Shaʻban 21, 1448 AH

Submit your paper

This journal has two deadlines: submit your abstract first by its date, then add the full paper by its own date.

2 · The editorial screen

Only the journal's manager sees it: every paper and its state, who is reviewing it, and what each reviewer said. Authors' names are shown here to the editorial board alone.

A reviewer's note

A sound idea that needs two things: a precise date range for the press corpus, and a comparison of the borrowings described with what the language academies have approved.
